About the College of Science
The College of Science is composed of:
- Six departments: Biology, Chemistry & Geology, Computer Science, Psychology & Sociology, Nursing and Mathematics.
- Two programs: Health Science and Environmental Science.
- And an environmental education and research center: Oxbow Meadows.
Through these units, the College of Science offers coursework that provides general education in mathematics, science and technology to students in all majors and provides programs of study that can lead to: 21 undergraduate degrees, 11 minors and three master's degrees: a Master of Science in Applied Computer Science, a Master of Science in Environmental Science or a Master of Public Administration with a Health Administration emphasis.
In addition, the College of Science maintains a close working relationship with the College of Education in efforts to produce an effective cadre of graduates prepared to teach mathematics and science in K-12 schools.
The college is led by more than 90 highly qualified and talented full-time faculty members whose primary concern is the academic achievement of their students. They are committed to the principle of student engagement through activities ranging from shared research projects, to laboratory experiences and interactive learning experiences. The faculty is committed to providing a global emphasis in the educational enterprise by providing an international perspective to course delivery and learning opportunities outside the United States.
